Clay & Thread
Clare Spender & Hayley Rowlands
23-25th October.

Bringing together tactile craftsmanship and a shared deep connection to the coastal landscape, Clare Spender and Hayley Rowlands join forces for a compelling dual exhibition at the iconic Aldeburgh Beach Lookout.

Clare is an accomplished textile artist and Farnham UCA MA graduate with a rich history of community arts practice and conservation work. Clare weaves intricate narratives using soft mediums, embroidery, and material history.

Beside her, Hayley Rowlands, a Suffolk-based potter, was featured on series 8 of Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throwdown and translates the raw, irregular beauty of shoreline rocks, hagstones, and coastal tides into beautiful stoneware sculptures, homeware, and ceramics. Their joint showcase will form a tactile dialogue between clay and thread, capturing the organic textures, vivid contrasts, and emotive spirit of the surrounding coastal landscape.

Open daily 10am – 4pm
