Internationally renowned British performance artist Shaun Caton presents a stunning exhibition of new collages and paper constructions at Aldeburgh’s South Lookout.
During Lockdown, Shaun started experimenting with paper collage and has created a vivid array of still life’s that incorporate everyday kitchen utensils, such as cups, bowls, and corkscrews in what he calls, Household Gods. All the objects that appear in his collages are derived from his own home environment. Other subjects include flowers and plants inspired by his little garden in London. He has also been making some Green Man heads, which are paper constructions inspired by medieval church roof bosses. Most recently, he has made some Songsters, which are based on singing heads, angelic choirs, and perhaps, pop stang wit, artistry, and his own exhaustive sense of playful invention, this exhibition is both original and entertaining. Shaun transforms the mundane and the humdrum into something wondrous and beautiful. Taking ancient architectural features, such as stone heads in churches, he transforms these into intensely vivid and attractive creations.
All works are for sale.
